ONLINE NOMINATION FORM SUBMISSION*

*MANDATORY! If the adversity was medical in nature (injury, illness, or disease), a letter from the institution’s sports medicine director or physician is required. Once online form is submitted, please email all supporting materials (medical letters, nominee letters, etc.) to Nora Lynn Finch, Chair of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards Inspiration Award Committee at nlfinch@theacc.org. Please include your nominee's name in the email subject.

Award Criteria:

  • A nominee must be or must have been a woman student-athlete at a Division I, II, or III NCAA member institution and must be or must have been a member of an NCAA-sponsored varsity intercollegiate team during the current academic year.
  • A nominee must have experienced extraordinary personal sacrifice and/or experienced extraordinary physical and/or emotional adversity, injury and/or illness during her college enrollment as a student-athlete .
  • A nominee must have returned to intercollegiate competition during the current academic year to earn individual honors and/or distinction for her outstanding intercollegiate athletic success.
  • If the adversity was medical in nature (injury, illness, or disease), a letter from the institution’s sports medicine director or physician is required.
  • Institutions are limited to one nomination per academic year, and the institution’s Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator must have approved the nomination.

Nomination Protocol:

  • Below please fully describe the extraordinary personal sacrifice, and/or physical and/or emotional adversity, injury and/or illness experienced by the student-athlete that interrupted her intercollegiate competition.
  • Describe how she managed the adversity, was an inspiration to others, exemplified leadership, etc.
  • If the adversity was medical (injury, illness, or disease), a letter from the institution’s sports medicine director of physician is required as a supplement with the nomination.
  • Describe the athletic honors or distinctions earned after she returned to competition.
  • Although not required, a personal statement from the nominee is strongly encouraged.
  • One article about the nominee from a publication may be attached as a supplement.
  • The nomination deadline is April 10, 2015.
