Celine Boutier from Duke University, teammates Doris Chen and Annie Park from the University of Southern California and Alison Lee of UCLA are the four nominees for the Honda Sports Award for women's golf as announced by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) today.

The Honda Sports Award is presented annually by the CWSA to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”. The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2014 Honda Cup. The nominees were chosen by their NCAA Championship finish and golf rankings.

The Honda Sports award winner for golf will be announced next week after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Each NCAA member institution has a vote.

Boutier was named the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) National Player of the Year after leading Duke to the national title. The sophomore from Montrouge, France, registered a 71.50 stroke average, three victories, six top five finishes and seven top 10 placements on the year. During the spring, she posted three wins and a 70.77 stroke average in seven tournaments, including a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championship. She led Duke on the season with 20 rounds of even or under par, including seven rounds in the 60s.

Chen was the NCAA individual title winner at the 2014 National Women's Golf Championship. The junior from Bradenton, Fla., shot a 67 on the final round to take the lead and capture USC's fifth individual national title. She is a three-time All-American and has four top 10 finishes on the season along with three top three finishes.

Park boasts a team-best 71.50 stroke average and finished the regular season with a streak of eight top 11 finishes in a row. Her stroke average was the second-best in school history after she set the previous record of 71.36 as a freshman last year. The sophomore from Levittown, N.Y., completed 10 rounds in the 60s this year which is second-most in school history.

Lee was named the WGCA Freshman of the Year and earned the GolfStat Cup which is awarded to the player with the best season scoring average. She was ranked No. 1 among collegiate players for most of the season and finished the year on top with a 71.02 scoring average. She had three victories on the year, including the 2014 Pac-12 Championship, and led the Bruins with 19 rounds under par and 10 rounds under 70.

The CWSA presents the Honda Sports Award annually to top women student-athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports. Honda Sports award winners will be presented with the honor during on-campus presentations throughout the year and all Honda Sports award winners become a finalist for the prestigious 2014 Honda Cup award presented in June.

THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards has honored the nation’s top NCAA women athletes for 37 years, recognizing superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service. Since commencing its sponsorship in 1986, Honda has provided more than $2.8 million in institutional grants to the universities of the award winners and nominees to support women’s athletics programs at the institutions.
