Emily Trieschmann, a junior from Nova Southeastern University, was named the DII Honda Athlete of the Year finalist for swimming & diving for the second year in a row as announced today by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

Trieschmann is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DII Honda Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 48th year.

“I am truly privileged to have had the chance to represent Nova Southeastern University over the past two years,” said Trieschmann. “My success in swimming is not just a personal achievement, but a testament to the unwavering support of my coaches, teammates, and the entire Nova Southeastern community. To be named as one of the finalist for the DII Honda Athlete of the Year Award is truly an honor and showcases the excellence that defines both myself and Nova Southeastern University.”

Trieschmann is the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division II Player of the Year for the second consecutive year and has earned 11 First Team CSCAA All-America honors overall.

The junior led her team to its second consecutive NCAA Championship title and captured five national titles en route to the repeat- 800 Freestyle Relay, 1000 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 500 Freestyle, and 1650 Freestyle. She set the NCAA record in the 1000 Freestyle (9:38.98) and was a repeat champion in the 500 Free, 1000 Free and 1650 Free.

Most recently, Treischmann was named the back-to-back Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Swimmer of the Year and became the first NSU swimmer and third overall to win SSC Swimmer of the Year twice.

The Lake Worth, Fla., native, led her team to its fourth straight SSC Title and was named the SSC Swimmer of the Meet for the second year straight. Trieschmann scored 80-points for Nova Southeastern with her wins in the 800 Freestyle Relay, 1000 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle, 400 Medley Relay, 500 Freestyle, 1650 Freestyle (set a new SSC and Meet record), and the 400 Freestyle Relay. Trieschmann is the third swimmer to win the award twice and remains the fifth NSU honoree.

Overall, she owns the SSC records in the 200, 500, 1000, and 1650 Free.

All Honda Sports nominees from DII and DIII become a finalist for the prestigious 2024 Honda Athlete of the Year in their respective divisions, presented in a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 PM ET, from its new home in New York City.

The Honda Award finalists are recognized in 11 DII and DIII NCAA-sanctioned sports; cross country, basketball, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, volleyball, and track & field.
