Harvard University’s Bronte-May Brough, Bo van Kempen from Syracuse University, Princeton University’s Beth Yeager and Maddie Zimmer of Northwestern University have been announced as the four finalists for the Class of 2026 Honda Sport Award for field hockey, as revealed today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).
The announcement comes during a landmark moment for the organization, as the CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025–26 collegiate athletics season. For five decades, the Honda Sport Award has honored the nation’s top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, symbolizing “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” The recipient will become a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the Class of 2025 Honda Cup, to be presented live on Monday, July 27, at 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
The field hockey finalists were selected by a panel of experts and coaches from the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA). Voting for the Honda Sport Award for field hockey is conducted by senior women administrators from more than 1,000 NCAA member institutions.
Brough, a senior hailing from Uttoxeter, England, is a four-time NFHCA All-American, including First Team honors in 2023 and 2025. The defender is the only two-time Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year in conference history and anchored a Crimson defense that ranked second nationally in goals allowed and recorded nine shutouts in 2025. Offensively, she added six goals and three assists this season and finished her career with 65 points from the backfield.
van Kempen, a defender from Zevenaar, Netherlands, is a two-time NFHCA All-American, earning First Team honors this season, and was named the 2025 NFHCA Mid-East Region Player of the Year. The graduate student ranked among the national leaders in scoring, finishing fifth in Division I with 23 goals and 53 points while leading the ACC. Van Kempen added four defensive saves and delivered a standout postseason, scoring four goals to help Syracuse reach the NCAA quarterfinals.
Yeager is a two-time Honda Award finalist and a four-time NFHCA First Team All-American, becoming the first Ivy League player to earn First Team honors in all four seasons. The senior midfielder hailing from Greenwich, Conn., is a four-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and led Princeton to the 2025 Ivy League Championship, earning Most Outstanding Player honors. Yeager helped guide the Tigers to the NCAA Championship game, scoring the team’s lone goal in the title match, and finished her career ranked among Princeton’s all-time leaders in goals and points.
Zimmer is the Class of 2025 Honda Award winner and a two-time NFHCA National Player of the Year. A four-time NFHCA First Team All-American, she helped lead Northwestern to the 2025 NCAA Championship and was a three-time NCAA Tournament MVP. A graduate student from Hershey, Pa., the midfielder finished the season ranked among the national leaders in assists and is a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year.
As the CWSA marks its 50th anniversary, the organization continues its longstanding mission to honor excellence in athletics, leadership, academics, and community service. Since 1986, Honda has contributed more than $3.4 million in institutional grants to support women’s athletics programs nationwide.
