Kaley McIntyre, a senior from New York University, has been named a finalist in swimming & diving for the DIII Honda Athlete of the Year, as announced today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.
The announcement comes during a landmark moment for the organization, as the CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025–26 collegiate athletics season. McIntyre is now among 11 elite finalists for this prestigious award, which recognizes the top NCAA Division III athletes across various sports. The DIII Honda Athlete of the Year will be selected by senior women administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools and will be honored during a live broadcast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, July 27th, at 7:00 pm ET, in New York City.
“I am very honored to be recognized as a finalist for this award,” stated McIntyre. “Thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for supporting me every step of the way. I am incredibly proud of everything my team and my teammates have accomplished over my time at NYU, they have inspired me with their hard work and determination to succeed. I would also like to thank the CWSA and Honda for supporting women’s sports and promoting excellence in women’s athletics across divisions. I am incredibly honored to be a small part of a very incredible community of athletes!”
McIntyre, a senior from Novato, California, concludes her career as one of the most decorated athletes in NYU history. A three-time CSCAA Women’s Swimmer of the Year and three-time Honda Division III Athlete of the Year finalist, she helped lead the program to its first national championship.
At the 2026 NCAA Championships, McIntyre captured five titles, highlighted by her third consecutive win in the 100 free, while also claiming titles in the 50 free, 200 free, and as part of the 200 and 400 free relays. She finishes her career as a 15-time national champion (11 individual, four relay) and ties the Division III record for most individual national championships.
A 27-time First Team All-American and three-time UAA Swimmer of the Year, McIntyre holds four conference records and seven program records. She is also a CSCAA First Team Scholar All-American.
“I’m excited for Kaley to be nominated once again,” stated head coach Trevor Miele. “Every year I’ve worked with her, she’s continued to work harder and grow into a more mature leader, both in and out of the pool. Through her dedication and effort, she’s developed into the greatest Division III swimmer of all time. I’ve never coached a more consistent racer, and it’s no surprise she was the backbone of the team that went on to win both UAAs and the NCAA title.”
Now in its 50th year, the CWSA continues to honor the nation’s top female collegiate athletes for excellence in athletics, leadership, academics, and community service. Since partnering with Honda in 1986, the program has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants, strengthening and advancing women’s athletics programs nationwide.
