Teammates Lucy Bell and Tori Huske of Stanford University, Claire Curzan from the University of Virginia and Sophie Verzyl of the University of South Carolina have been announced as the four finalists for the Class of 2026 Honda Sport Award for swimming & diving, as revealed today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).
The announcement comes during a landmark moment for the organization, as the CWSA celebrates its 50th anniversary during the 2025–26 collegiate athletics season. For five decades, the Honda Sport Award has honored the nation’s top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports, symbolizing “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” The recipient will become a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the Class of 2026 Honda Cup, to be presented live on Monday, July 27, at 7 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.
The swimming & diving finalists were selected by a panel of experts and coaches from the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). Voting for the Honda Sport Award for swimming & diving is conducted by senior women administrators from more than 1,000 NCAA member institutions.
Bell, a senior from Fort Collins, Colorado, is a two-time NCAA Champion in the 200 breast and captured the 200 IM championship at the 2026 NCAA Championships. She is a 12-time All-American who holds the school record in the 200 breast. She also won two ACC titles this season, including a meet-record performance in the 400 IM, while helping Stanford to an NCAA runner-up finish.
Huske, a redshirt senior from Arlington, Virginia, was named 2026 CSCAA Swimmer of the Year after winning three individual NCAA titles. A five-time national champion and 28-time All-American, she is also a two-time Olympian and six-time Olympic medalist.
Curzan, a junior from Cary, North Carolina, is a 13-time NCAA Champion and 21-time All-American, including six titles at the 2026 NCAA Championships. She led Virginia to its sixth straight national title and is an Olympic silver medalist and multi-time World Championship medalist.
Verzyl, a senior from Columbia, South Carolina, is the 2026 CSCAA Diver of the Year and the first in program history. She won the NCAA 3-meter title, finished runner-up in the 1-meter, and swept the springboard events at the SEC Championships.
As the CWSA marks its 50th anniversary, the organization continues its longstanding mission to honor excellence in athletics, leadership, academics, and community service. Since 1986, Honda has contributed more than $3.4 million in institutional grants to support women’s athletics programs nationwide.
